About the Workbook

The Healing Through Christ workbook was created to help family members learn how to meet the challenges of having a loved one trapped in addiction. The workbook is based upon the Twelve Step principles of Al-Anon. We gratefully acknowledge the wisdom we have gained from their books. Their many years of success in helping family members understand and cope with the challenges of addiction is highly admirable. Additional powerful healing principles from a variety of respected sources such as Melody Beattie’s books on codependency, S-Anon books, Hold on to Hope, LDS ecclesiastical leaders and the scriptures have all been compiled into one workbook for the benefit of family members. The Healing Through Christ workbook was developed over a period of five years and tested in numerous 12 Step support groups throughout the United States and Canada. The feedback from these support groups was invaluable in the development of this workbook. As a result, the Healing Through Christ workbook has helped many family members find hope and healing in their lives.

How the Workbook is Organized

The Table of Contents allows the reader to easily find the information they are seeking.

The Preface discusses how the workbook came to be written and who compiled and wrote it.

The Introduction explains why the workbook is valuable to the family member and how it will help their situation.

The Steps are written in a specific progressive order which promotes and allows for understanding and healing. Steps One, Two and Nine are longer than the other Steps in order to enhance the application of the principles of these Steps.

The Appendixes provide additional and essential information to support the principles of the Steps.

The Family Member Sharing section provides an opportunity for family members to share the personal experiences they have had while working each Step.
